Installing TV tuner in RHD CLK.
WARNING – THIS INVOLVES TAKING LOTS OF BITS OUT OF YOUR CAR –
DON’T BLAME ME IF YOU BREAK IT – I DON’T WARRANTY ANY OF THIS.
Modify wiring loom for RHD
|
Aux input (4 way white) connector, Green/Black lead and
black+black/white CAN lead need to be moved from Right hand side of wiring
loom to left hand side.
Power cable (Red/Blue) needs to be moved to right hand
side of cable. It will be cut and connected to old cable in driver foot-well
later.
|
CAN lead will be cut in passenger side foot-well later.
|
Need to expose all wiring ducts from centre console
backwards
|
Remove rear left and right boot trim
|
|
|
Remove left and right rear passenger side trims (seat
sides, C pillar, B pillar)
|
|
|
Loosen rear parcel shelf
|
Only need to poke some wires thru from boot to aerial amps
by rear windscreen
|
|
Remove door sill steps
|
|
|
Remove centre console
|
Requires lots of other bits to be removed first
|
|
Remove front carpets
|
|
Remove old wiring harness for CD player and aerials from
left and right of car.
|
Need to disconnect any wires at the wakeup Z connector in
right hand door-sill wiring duct (blue/black cables)
Need to disconnect any wires at the aerial power Z
connector in left hand door-sill wiring duct (blue/white cables)
Need to separate and cut the power feed from F10A in the
duct in front of drivers seat (will connect to new loom)
Need to cut CAN (black, black/white) cables in passenger
foot-well
Disconnect black/green wire from scotch connectors in left
hand wiring duct (near front bulkhead)
Disconnect connector for AUX input in glove-box.
|
Will connect to new harness
Will connect to new harness
In left hand wiring duct near front bulkhead
Part of group of connectors in left hand wiring duct
|
Install new loom
|
Install loom starting at head unit as much of the loom
needs to be routed under existing cabling, especially where the duct in front
of seats meet the centre console and sill ducts.
Right hand aerial lower amps routed via boot space
and thru rear parcel shelf, upper amp
behind seat belt – fix down with felt tape.
Left hand lower aerial amp routed as above, upper amp
routed inside car above rear seat belt and across –
A cable runs between left and right across parcel shelf
and connects in the middle (TV4 black coax cable)
Remember to connect the wakeup (right door sill) and the
aerial power cables (left door sill) back together
Connect power lead (red/blue) previously cut to new loom
(cutting of excess)
Connect black/green cable to point where you disconnected
old loom from.
Solder CAN connections back. It is important to keep the
black and black/white cables twisted together.
|
Need to fix loom to panel so it doesn’t interfere with
seatbelt.
In duct in front of driver side seat
In left hand wiring duct
In duct in front of passenger seat
|
Install TV bracket and module and cover
|
TV tuner sits in door panel beside rear right passenger.
I modified a W210 part, adding a hook to hook the upper
edge onto the “door” panel and the lower brackets to the lower part of that
panel and the panel between the seat belt mechanism and the cavity where the
tuner is mounted
Ensure that where the wires run from the loom to the
cavity all edges are coated with the sticky-back-felt and will not get
damaged by body work.

|
Configure with Star Diagnosis machine
|
The system just works by default but should be properly
configured.
Firstly, set the “TV Tuner” to “Installed”
Decide how you want the four safety features set. These
are, handbrake, park, speed > 0kmh, speed > 10kmh
